Although I have really only been talking about instrumental music therapy, there are many other options out there to keep the client engaged. I have recently found some videos on using your hands and body to create sounds, enabling the therapist and patient/s to connect and communicate with each other.
One of these ways is by creating rain/thunderstorms. It came to mind since I've performed on stage doing this for a concert before, so it was interesting to see how it is used during a session. It is said that this method allows the person to pick the sounds that they want to make, which then opens up to how it made them feel or what they would like to do differently.
The video that is included, is just a sound reference of what this could be when used on a patient.
I used to be in choir for 4 years and played the violin for 2 years
You got me thinking of hand-clapping during some church services, and how this can complement singing in a therapeutic way.
