While searching through YouTube, I came across a very interesting video that documents an experiment performed on a young musician, Jennifer Koh, at Duke University. It was especially fascinating to see how scientists used an FMRI machine to view the impact music had on Koh's brain while completing certain actions.
Jennifer was asked to complete three tasks while in the machine - listen to a piece of music, read the score to that piece of music, and thirdly, imagine herself playing that piece of music. The video went on to explain how different areas of her brain were engaged throughout the process of the experiment. The findings even ended up being used as a teaching method at the university.
After reading this post about how music therapy is good for the brain, made me think several questions like is the specific music that is good and what makes it therapy. Another reason why I liked the post was because it intrigued me and got my attention because i like music. Lastly the post pictures were nice and caught my attention because it made me understand the post better.
